Maybe It’s Just Me

But whenever I write something and think it’s good, it’s always not good when I go back to it an hour later. There are no exceptions to this. When you write you’re forever in a blind spot. Writing is the worst thing you could ever do.

  1. At least you have that moment where you love it. After I type each word, I hate mine immediately. There’s no honeymoon period, no infinitesimal moment of pride. It sucks right out of the gate. And that is why I treat my sobriety as a counterpoint to most people’s drunkenness. I’m only sober on Saturday nights, from about 9PM to 2AM

  2. I write… How it comes is how it comes.. The only time I will sit and correct is if I’m getting paid… But I do reread and go Wow that came out of me..
    I love what you write

  3. I read Stephen Kings book on writing. He suggests writing your story and then throw it in locked drawer for … I think he said 3 months. Then take it out and read it, rewrite it. Ya gotta step away from it for a while though.

  4. As Dorothy Parker said, ‘I can’t write five words but that I change seven.’ Sometimes it’s the nature of the beast. Better to have written something, though, anything, than nothing at all. You can always go back and change it. You are not alone!

  5. It’s a cycle. It can be vicious. But then, you’re not exactly hunting kittens are you?

It fluctuates though. Later you might like it again. Or, at the very least, know how to make it better. That’s the good stuff.

You’ll have lots more good stuff.
